About Us

"You Have A Friend Incorporated" is a registered not for profit charity.

The Board Members, are a group of dedicated men and women who voluntarily

support the marginalised and those less fortunate than ourselves in South East Queensland and the northern New South Wales district of Australia.

Our knowledge, skills and experiences now melds a group of people, with the same goals and dedicated to supporting the marginalised by way of street outreaching, accommodation, food and safe shelter. Our work also brings us into contact with domestic violence and other abused and desperate victims who need to be located in safe environments.

Over the years, we have voluntarily worked with an assortment of charities, but often, through necessity, we have been forced to provide support to our friends on the street, in many cases, paying for outlays from our own pocket. Working as individuals, frustrations over "red tape" and encountering other problems has often made our support to the marginalised difficult or almost impossible.

With this in mind, we met as a group to form and register our own charity - "You Have A Friend".

As a team, we are now able to put to good use our skills and knowledge and are confident that as a group of like minded people, we can more effectively advocate and provide the support we believe is necessary for our "friends" in this ever changing world

Being a totally not for profit organisation all Board Members are unpaid volunteers and we rely totally on other volunteers to assist us in the many wonderful ways we can support mothers, children, youth and men who desperately need our help.

Our only source of income is through donations and our own fundraising, so financial donations are always welcome. We also greatly appreciate any support you are able to  provide by way of much needed supplies or simply assisting us by volunteering  your services.

This website provides the many options available to you to "become involved" and we sincerely hope you can offer your support to this most rewarding cause.

Some Statistics as of 5th October 2008

• We were registered as a charity on 1st May 2008 and started with 6 volunteers.
  

• We currently have 21 registered active volunteers.
  

• We operate in Coolangatta, Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah.
  

• We provide breakfast, lunch and supper to our friends each week.
  

• We have regular teams of volunteers operating on a roster basis
  

• On average we support 70 people weekly
  

• Our friends range in age from 4 years to approximately 85 years old.
