I am interested in volunteering for:
OR
Please provide me, John with information regarding volunteering
Become a "Street Outreach" Volunteer

A Street Outreach Volunteer involves joining us on the streets in a variety of outreaches. We provide "Breakfast", "Lunch" and "Night" Outreaches for our friends.

Outreaching is a most rewarding event and allows our volunteers to meet and enjoy the company of the many friends we regularly meet with.

In most cases, the volunteers meet at a central location, the vollies are briefed as to any specifics they should be aware of for the outreach and also any news or information regarding "You Have A Friend".

It is then out to the location where we meet with our friends for a chat, cuppa and something to eat. It is at times like this that we catch up on what has been happening in their lives and perhaps assist in any way with any problems they may have. It often happens that it is at this time that we meet new people both young and old and swapping of stories and getting to know them is what outreaching is all about.

Our Street Outreaches involve all meals and most days and our volunteers assist according to time suitable for them.

A full training course is provided and most volunteers are roistered one day/night a fortnight, depending on their availability.
Please Note:
We do not forward your information to any person or organisation and your data is used exclusively by us to contact you.
Become a "Court Volunteer"

A Court Volunteer involves assisting at the courts, where we provide a strong presence and our outreach is available to those involved in the court system.

"You Have A Friend" provides refreshments in the foyer of the courthouse. We support persons going to court, as well as solicitors and court staff alike with a warm drink and something to eat and often just a friendly chat.

On a number of occasions we have assisted persons who  need our services and we have been able to provide support in a variety of ways.

Become an "Op Shop Volunteer"

Our Op Shop is at 2/3 Machinery Drive South Tweed Heads. Should you be interested in helping and joining our roster, we have positions for sorting the many items donated. Also as backup for those who already serve on the desk at the front of the Shop. You do not necessary need previous experience.

Volunteering

Our volunteers are our lifeblood. Without our dedicated volunteers we are unable to support
our Friends in the way we need.

We outreach on a daily basis in different locations and there are always demands on our
services. Demands many people can assist us with not only on the "front line", but also
behind the scenes.

It may well be street outreaching is not for you. However there are so many other ways that you can assist us and our friends and volunteering is a most rewarding experience.

All our volunteers are fully trained through our training courses and supported in all they do. You may be interested in joining us on our "Information Night" to establish whether "You have A Friend" is for you. We sincerely hope so and look forward to hearing from you.

Provided is a brief outline of our different outreaches and ways you can help us and if you are interested in what we offer, please feel free to contact us and we will be in touch with you to provide the necessary information.

We must address the root causes of terrorism to end it for all time. I believe putting resources into improving the lives of poor people is a better strategy than spending it on guns.
