"Our Milestones"
-30th July - 8th August 2010 - We hold a most successful National Homeless Week which saw us start a new annual 'You Have A Friend Inter School Surfing Competition' thaat was won by Kingscliff State School. Also during the week was held a number of events at schools to raise awareness of homelessness in the area. The week ended with our 2nd annual most successful 'Jimbo's Sleepout'.

-16th April 2010 - Absolutely exciting news and we are given finance for another van thanks to THE MAMMA LENA & DINO GUSTIN FOUNDATION.

-3rd March 2010 - We start our 1st Food Drop run to caravan parks and housing commission unit with healthy food from Woolworths.

-17 January 2010 - we start our 1st Chinderah Sunday Breakfast

-5th January 2010 - we received a Volunteer Grant from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs to support our volunteers

-December 2009 - we provide 3 Christmas functions for Coolangatta, Murwillumbah and Chinderah

-November 2009 - we obtain a grant from Sisters of Charity Foundation to start the Chinderah outreach

-October 2009 purchase our 11 seater Van. Most of the funding was raised by our own volunteers.

-24th October Gulu Walk was held in Tweed heads in support of the abandoned children in war torn Uganda. Only Tweed Heads and Melbourne represented Australia in the global walks for the event.

-10th October - Jimbo's Sleepout was held on the grounds of St. Joseph's College in honour of our friend, Jimbo who passed away in 2008.

-July 2009 - YHAF is selected as a preferred charity by the Reynolds girls who are entering the Tweed River Banana Festival.

-10th February 2009, a very successful meeting was organised by YHAF and Geoff Provost (NSW Member), to bring together the major services such as Housing, Police, Tweed Shire Council,  etc. to look at ways of supporting those requiring assistance and in particular a local "community center" and more affordable housing.
 
-26th January 2009, Caitlin McGibbon-Goodie was selected as Tweed Head's YOUNG ACHIEVER IN COMMUNITY SERVICES
AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD WINNER. Largely for the work she performs for our charity.

-18th October 2008, we held a most successful Gulu Walk - supporting the displaced children in Uganda. Emma and Caitlin (our "youth" volunteers) raised over $1,000 and produced a very successful walk

-On 12th October 2008, we started supporting our friends with "brekkie" in Coolangatta. It was a great success and our team who support and work with us did a great job with over 30 friends turning up for a feed and a chat. A great success and one we will not abandon in a hurry.

- On 13-14th August, Lara Davenport wins GOLD at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, being part of the world record breaking, Australian Women's Individual Freestyle Relay team - CONGRATULATIONS LARA

-Lara Davenport, who will swim for Australia in the upcoming Olympics, joins our "you Have A Friend" group and attends "brekkie" at Murwillumbah on 13th July. Then Lara attends an outreach at Coolangatta on Saturday night 19th July and provides great fun and enjoyment to our friends and volunteers alike.

-Murwillumbah begins the 1st "Brekkie" at Budd Park on Sunday 6th July. Now we are currently providing a service 3 times a week to Murwillumbah and the community is fast getting behind us, which is most welcome. Number are averaging 12 - 15 and growing fast.

-We start "BBQ lunch" in Murwillumbah on 8th May 2008. Lunch is to be offered in conjunction with the Community Center - Knox Park, each Thursday from around 11.30. The numbers quickly swell to average around 30 - 50 persons each week. We also start a fun "footie" game
each Thursday for anyone interested and great fun is had by all while waiting for the sausages to cook.
